Together they are less than 12 gigs (I don't have a great internet connection). I do have other samplers, including East West and other string packages. Thanks "eboats" and Mike Lyons for the positive and practical suggestions. I have Garritan GPO5 so that's probably half the problem. Posted by Laurence Payne - 17 Nov 10:26PM

Re: How to set Garritan/Aria sounds from Sibelius 8 play config? It makes no difference what I enter either in the drop down sound set up list or the preferred instrument list.Ĭan anyone please point out where I am going wrong? I have read the section in the manual regarding the pay setup, several times. In that case what is the point of using the Sibelius play setup to go through all the hoops when it does not seem to communicate with the Aria player? I have to ignore all that and simply load the sounds WITHIN the Aria player itself.

In other words, whatever I do, and whatever I place in the Sibelius play list, with the Aria player activated, it does not result in a sound being loaded. No sound, which is not surprising as when I press "SHOW" the Aria player slots are empty.

In the Sibelius play setup menu I assign 4 channels and one by one choose a trumpet for channels 1 and 2, and the trombone and tuba on channels 3 and 4. The other is a similar drop down menu when opting for MANUAL sound set which is not a general midi-type list but contains the actual list of all the available Garritan sounds listed exactly as they are in the Aria player. One is in the "preferred instrument" section with a list of what look like midi instruments. I create an ID for Trumpets, trombone and tuba.ĪT THIS POINT I am confused because there are two separate drop down instrument dialogues. Next I activate the Aria player in Sibelius play setup and it shows fine when I press "Show" but it's channels are empty. I load up a score for a brass quartet: Trumpets 1 and 2, a trombone and tuba. I'm assuming that the point of the Play/configuration/setup menu is that you activate a VST then use the dialogue to load for example a Garritan/Aria or EWQL/Kontakt etc set of sounds without actually doing it directly in the Aria/Play/Kontakt player itself. Apologies for slightly repeating this question but it got muddled up in another thread about another subject.
